KwaMbili Game Lodge - Kruger Private Reserves - South Africa
KwaMbili Game Lodge provides an authentic safari experience at an affordable price. It is situated in the Thornybush Game Reserve near Hoedspruit, within the Greater Kruger region.
KwaMbili is home to the Big Five, as well as an abundance of other game and bird species. This means you will have a grand game viewing experience and are guaranteed good sightings.
The knowledgeable rangers at KwaMbili will introduce you to the sights, sounds, tracks and movements which will give you a window into the secrets of the African bush. The lodges offers game drives with these experienced rangers and trackers in open 4x4 vehicles.
The shaded camp allows safe observation of animals drinking at the nearby waterhole or the dam further away. There is a secluded swimming pool which allows for relaxation and for cooling off on hot days. Décor around the lodge takes inspiration from the film "Out of Africa".

KWAMBILI GAME LODGE FACILITIES
LODGE FEATURES:
The main area is unwalled and consists of a cosy bar, a breakfast/lunch area, a beautiful lounge and a small library. There is a large collection of eye-catching African masks, and you will find safari artefacts such as books, maps, photographs and skulls. There is also a small pool to cool off from the heat.
Dinner is usually served in the boma which also forms part of the central area. A boma is a round enclosure traditionally used to protect cattle from predators. Safari lodges use this concept for safe dinners under the stars, usually with roaring camp fires.
An important feature of the lodge is the hide, or observation platform. During the day you are welcome to go there and relax while looking out for animals and birds. There is a small waterhole in front of the hide and the KwaMbili dam, a little further away, is visible from the hide too.
ACCOMODATION:
There are large safari tents further from the main building at the end of clearly marked paths. These tents are under a thatched roof, protecting them from falling leaves and making them cooler in summer. The roof extends over a small private patio with table and chairs. They have mosquito windows with flaps which can be opened or closed according to the weather. Each tent has its own open-air en-suite shower and flush toilet. There is electricity in the tents and in the summer a fan is provided. As the tents are on the outskirts of the camp you will have a full uninterrupted view of the bush from your patio. The camp is unfenced and animals roam freely, sometimes in the camp and around the tents. You will be safe inside the tents but after dark you will be accompanied to your tent.

What to pack:
- Comfortable, light clothing for summer months, including a swimming costume.
- A very warm jacket for game drives, especially during winter – conditions can be chilly!
- Comfortable closed shoes and socks.
- Sunhat or cap, sunglasses and sunscreen - the African sun is harsh for the unprotected body.
- Camera and plenty of memory space.
